11/10/2022 0 Comments Gba tekken advance mugen characters![]() Jin's spinning kick combo and punch strings are in, while Hwoarang has his stance changes and appropriate corresponding kick attacks. There are fewer basic attacks, then, but a surprising amount of the arcade movesets and combo theory has survived the transition (timing is a little slower, due to the animation speed, but very consistent). To more easily adapt them to the layout, punch and kick are on the face, while the left and right shoulder buttons perform a punch-kick combination and a throw, respectively. The controls have been simplified a little, too, despite the sufficient number of buttons on the GBA pad. Lei Wulong is a bit of a conspicuous absence, but it's still a respectable complement. The version of Tekken Advance on display at Namco's press tour today (purportedly 60% complete) includes the principal non-boss characters from the original version of Tekken 3: Ling Xiaoyu, Jin Kazama, Paul Phoenix, Nina Williams, Forrest Law, King, Gun Jack, Yoshimitsu, and Hwoarang. Tekken 3's comparatively limited emphasis on 3D movement helps, certainly ( Tekken Advance bears the closest resemblance to the third arcade/PlayStation game), but even so, there's an awful lot of fighting packed into this small package. That sensation of surprise remains in effect upon playing the game - strictly speaking, this is still a 2D fighter, but it's surprising how much of the big brother's gameplay remains in effect on the GBA. Street Fighter, sure, that was fairly obvious, but Tekken was and is a surprise, despite the fact that Namco's support for the platform was already evident from the release of Klonoa: Empire of Dreams.
